Tá an tAcadamh Náisiúnta Tallaine um Scannánaíocht & Teilifís (ANT Scannánaíocht & Teilifís) i gcomhpháirtíocht le Deadpan Pictures ag lorg iarratais ar dhá phost scáthfhoghlama do léiritheoir agus stiúrthóir a bhfuil Gaeilge acu ar an dráma teilifíse Northern Lights atá le teacht.

  • Ní mór dhá gearrscannán beo-aicsin maoinithe ar a laghad a bheith stiúrtha ag Stiúrthóirí nó Scríbhneoirí/Stiúrthóirí roimhe seo (agus ceann amháin acu sin ar a laghad maoinithe ag comhlacht poiblí nó craoltóir poiblí) agus/nó príomhscannán agus/nó sobalchlár agus/nó fógraí ardleibhéil, agus spéis láidir a bheith acu i ngairm sa dráma teilifíse a fhorbairt. The National Talent Academy Film & Television (NTA Film & TV) in partnership with Deadpan Pictures is seeking applications for two shadowing positions for an Irish speaking producer and director on the upcoming television drama Northern Lights. 

These positions are full time production roles and will require in-person days in Dublin from July to October 2022. The successful candidates will work alongside series producer (Ailish McElmeel) and experienced directors during key times in the development and production of this 06-part series, gaining direct insight into the process. While the series will be produced through English, we are offering these positions to Irish speakers in order to expand the opportunities available for Irish speakers in scripted television.  

A contribution for time commitment, travel and accommodation will be provided allowing individuals to meet personal financial obligations while gaining unique access to the industry, practical experience and career development opportunities.

Production Dates/Duration: July – October 2022

Who Can Apply:

Open to Irish speaking Directors and Producers /Creative Producers who are habitually resident in the regions (outside Dublin/Wicklow) or who identify as diverse (please see our Diversity and Inclusion Statement) with a demonstrable level of relevant experience.

  • Directors or Writer/Directors must have previously directed at least two funded live action short films (at least one of which has been funded by a public body or broadcaster) and/or feature film and/or soap and/or high-end commercials with a clear interest in developing a career in television drama. Note that applications from more experienced Directors from other fields (e.g. Documentary) who are looking to build on their body of work and move into a television drama may also be considered. 
  • Producers / Creative Producers – must have previously produced at least two funded live action short films (at least one of which has been funded by a public body or broadcaster) and/or feature film and/or soap and/or high-end commercials and/or have worked in the Production Department across multiple projects with a clear interest in developing a career in television drama. Note that applications from more experienced Producers from other fields (e.g. Animation) who are looking to build on their body of work and move into a television drama may be considered.

This is an open application process, however in some instances the NTA Film & TV may work with industry stakeholders including the Screen Guilds to identify Talent who are ready to progress and encourage them to apply.

Selection Process

The applications will be assessed by a panel to include representatives of the National Talent Academy Film & TV, Deadpan Pictures and independent external assessors.  Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview.

The NTA Film & TV reserves the right to make amendments to this initiative subject to funding, production landscape and health and safety requirements at the time of delivery.
